The successful candidate will need a minimum of 5 years of experience managing HR functions in a complex organization, preferably within the education sector. Key responsibilities include advising on compliance and risk management, developing HR policies, and overseeing recruitment and retention strategies. The role demands strong leadership skills, expertise in HR procedures, and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Candidates must hold a CIPD Level 7 qualification or equivalent and be Safer Recruitment trained.

An exciting opportunity for a head of Human Resources has arisen with one of Londons leading Educational Trusts.

The successful candidate will act as the external facing representative for HR, ensuring that all schools in the trust receive excellent, efficient and effective HR support.

Key responsibilities:

Advise Trust and School leader on compliance and risk management issues.

Act as a business partner to senior managers and build positive relationships to ensure consistency and an understanding of the importance of good HR practice.

Introduce and drive change management initiatives.

Develop and maintain all HR related policies and procedures, systems and process.

To report on HR KPIs to the Staffing, Operational & Management Committee.

To create and implement the HR action plan.

To create and implement a recruitment and retention strategy for the Trust.

Ensure that the Trust complies with the requirements of the Public Sector Equality Duty.

Develop effective professional working relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including colleagues, educational advisory boards, trustees, trade union representatives and external agents.

Oversee investigations and complex employee relations issues including redundancy and grievance.

To ensure all senior leaders are safer recruitment trained.

Liaise with our external legal provider in more complex cases to ensure that all aspects are delivered in accordance with the legislative framework.

Ensure that SCR for all staff is compliant with regulations and kept up to date.

To assume overall responsibility for staff contracts and employee relation cases.

Assume overall responsibility for the recruitment process of the Trust.

Maintain personal professional development to ensure that the knowledge and skills required to manage the HR function are up to date.

Be a professional role model and understand and promote the aims and values of the Trust.

Prepare data reports for management and governance based on HR analytics and HR trends.

Require skills and experience:

CIPD Level 7 or equivalent

Safer Recruitment trained

Strong leadership and management skills

Extensive experience of managing HR functions in a complex organisation

Excellent knowledge and understanding of HR issues and procedures.

Experience of providing HR services to the education sector.

Experience of implementing information systems and processes

Strong IT Skills

Strong negotiating and influencing skills
