The London Borough of Enfield is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Homeless Housing Coordinator to join our dynamic Priority Assessment Team. This crucial role will involve assessing Relief cases and making appropriate Main Duty s184 decisions, ensuring that individuals facing homelessness receive the support and accommodation they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of individuals presenting as homeless, in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
  • Making robust and legally sound s184 Main Duty decisions, including issuing clear and concise decision letters.
  • Undertaking thorough enquiries to gather all necessary information to determine eligibility for the Main Housing Duty.
  • Working collaboratively with other agencies and services to provide holistic support to homeless individuals.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to colleagues on homelessness legislation and best practice.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all cases.
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of the service.
  • Working within safeguarding procedures for vulnerable adults and children, escalating concerns as necessary.
  • Effectively managing a caseload within a fast-paced environment.
  • Contributing to the prevention of homelessness through early intervention and advice.

Essential Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge of homelessness legislation and practice, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Housing Act 1996 Part VII, and related case law.
  • Proven experience working as a Homeless Officer, assessing cases under the Homelessness Reduction Act and making s184 decisions.
  • Substantial experience in completing s184 decision letters and conducting enquiries to accept cases for the Main Housing Duty.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and assessment skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a high caseload.
  • A commitment to providing a high-quality service to vulnerable people.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience using relevant housing management systems.
  • Knowledge of local housing options and support services in Enfield.
