The Role: Homeless Housing Coordinator

The Front Door Team Service in Enfield is seeking an experienced Homeless Housing Coordinator to join our dynamic team. This exciting role will be crucial in supporting individuals and families who are at risk of homelessness or currently homeless, helping them to sustain their present accommodation or move into suitable private rented housing. You will work closely with our partners and stakeholders to improve housing resilience and prevent homelessness wherever possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with partners to deliver expert advice and support to prevent, delay, or reduce homelessness in line with Enfield's Early Help strategy.
- Provide in-depth support and case management for individuals and families facing homelessness, ensuring they receive practical assistance to sustain their housing or transition to new accommodation.
- Work within the court systems, solicitors, and Enfield's legal department to assist with preventing homelessness, especially in cases involving possession orders and evictions.
- Offer expertise on welfare, homelessness reduction, housing policy, case law, and legislation to both colleagues and service users.
- Act as a key point of contact for vulnerable adults and families at risk, providing safeguarding guidance and ensuring that appropriate referrals are made.
- Work to prevent clients from entering temporary accommodation or becoming street homeless.
Key Requirements:
- Expert knowledge of welfare, housing legislation, the Homelessness Reduction Act, homelessness policy, and case law.
- Specialist knowledge of homelessness decision-making processes, including possession orders and evictions.
- Proven experience working within a similar role, with a strong understanding of court processes and legal frameworks related to homelessness.
- In-depth understanding of safeguarding policies and experience in supporting vulnerable adults and children.
- Strong collaboration skills, able to work effectively with various partners, courts, legal teams, and support services.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and case management skills.
- A commitment to preventing homelessness and delivering high-quality service to clients in need.
