The RoleAs a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both in and out of the classroom. Working closely with teachers and therapists, you will help create a positive and engaging learning environment tailored to the individual needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with SEN on a one-to-one or group basis.
- Assisting with the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Promoting independence and life skills in a structured setting.
- Encouraging participation in lessons and activities, adapting materials as needed.
- Providing pastoral support and fostering students' social and emotional well-being.
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support student progress.
We are looking for a compassionate and proactive individual with a genuine interest in working with young people with SEN.
Essential Skills & Qualities:
- Previous experience working with individuals with SEN (education or care settings).
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to meeting diverse needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
Desirable Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
- Experience with specific SEN conditions such as autism, ADHD, or physical disabilities.
- Knowledge of assistive technologies or alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECs).
