A SEN teacher is needed for a special educational needs (SEN) school in North London for students with autism (ASD).

As a SEN teacher, you will support secondary school students aged 11-19, who need extra support than in offered in mainstream schools.

This school is easily accessible from around London, with great transport links.

Being a SEN teacher at this school, you will become a part of a highly supportive team with exceptional senior leadership and fantastic resources.

Your responsibilities as a SEN teacher may include:

  • Lesson planning and delivery for students with a range of learning difficulties and complex needs. This may include alternative teaching methods, such as Lego therapy and intensive interaction sessions.
  • Helping students to develop confidence and independence.
  • Implementing behaviour management techniques, which may include physical restraints, to maintain a positive and safe learning environment.
  • Working with specialist teaching services, medical staff, counsellors, and psychologists
  • Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

To be a SEN teacher, you will need:

  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or overseas trained teacher awaiting QTS.
  • A clear and up-to-date DBS
  • Experience working as a Teacher in a UK school.
  • A patient and caring attitude with the ability to remain calm and supportive under pressure.
