Assessment Officer - Income and Debt

Join the Housing Gateway Ltd Rent Income Team as an Assessment Officer, where you will be integral in delivering effective, proactive, and customer-focused rent collection services. This role is based in the Civic Centre and offers an immediate start with ongoing temporary booking.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Work as part of the rent collection service team to ensure effective engagement with tenants, especially those who are vulnerable or challenging.
  • Contact tenants in rent arrears to assist them in setting up payment arrangements and to maximise their income, which may require cross-team collaboration with relevant partners.
  • Maintain a positive and professional image when interacting with customers, ensuring all actions are in line with national and corporate policies, procedures, and statutory legislation.
  • Understand and respond to customer needs, enhancing customer satisfaction and service delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in income and debt management, preferably within a housing context.
  • Strong understanding of customer service principles and the ability to handle vulnerable/challenging customers effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory legislation, policies, and procedures related to rent collection and housing.
  • Ability to start immediately and commit to an ongoing temporary role.
