Job Responsibilities(Essential):

  • Create and maintain technical, illustrative, and system drawings to support manuals, including circuit diagrams, flowcharts, exploded views, and dimensional drawings.
  • Develop and maintain 3D colour models, system diagrams, and other visuals to support sales bids.
  • Redraw and update existing drawings to ensure their availability for use in various packages.
  • Manage the storage and accessibility of drawings, ensuring they are reusable and easily modifiable for future projects.
  • Create and maintain a numbering system to properly catalog drawings for traceability.
  • Participate in the creation of high-quality bid responses, ensuring timely submission of both paper and electronic versions.
  • Prepare new handbooks and documents in both paper and electronic formats according to required standards and deadlines.
  • Meet contractual requirements, including content security and unit operating procedures, during document creation.
  • Handle and maintain classified documents following security grades and UK restrictions.
  • Safeguard company intellectual property, ensuring copyright, trademarks, and patents are protected.
  • Ensure all documents are free from infringement on other companies' copyrights, trademarks, or patents.
  • Maintain document masters and associated materials for future reproduction or modification.
  • Supervise junior authors or trainees when assigned, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensure compliance with security and health and safety requirements as specified in company procedures.
  • Liaise with MicroConcepts (CAD package provider) when required.
  • Administer the 'Vault' MicroConcepts storage facility as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain procedures related to technical publications and undertake any other tasks associated with the role.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in illustration tools such as AutoCAD, CorelDraw, and Acrobat, and skilled in word processing tools like Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with engineers and sales personnel for creating or modifying drawings and documents.
  • Confident in handling .pdf files for document manipulation.

Experience Required:

  • Broad engineering background with a basic knowledge of electronics.
  • Ability to read and interpret circuit and wiring diagrams.
