Payroll Manager

  • Location:  Epsom, close to train station and parking on site.
  • Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), office-based with the option to work from home twice a week
  • Salary: £35,000 to £45,000, depending on experience for the role permanently (available on a temp to perm basis)
  • Hourly rate:  £17.95- £23.08 per hour PAYE or £22.35- £28.92 per hour via an umbrella company.

We are seeking a Payroll Manager to join our Finance Team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role is crucial as we continue to expand, ensuring that our payroll processes are efficient and timely. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end payroll process, collaborating closely site Managers, HR teams, and the wider Finance Team.  This role is available on a temp to perm basis.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage the complete payroll process from integrating new starters to processing leavers.
  • Process monthly payroll for bank staff with variable hours and salaried staff.
  • Handle sickness and absence deductions, overtime payments, and various ad-hoc payments and deductions.
  • Stay updated with payroll legislation and ensure the payroll system complies with statutory figures.
  • Manage monthly HMRC compliance tasks including RTI, FPS, and period end processes.
  • Produce P45s, P11Ds, and P60s, and manage tax year-end processes.
  • Oversee the Payroll inbox, responding to queries promptly and being the primary contact for site Managers for payroll assistance.
  • Conduct monthly reporting for Directors and maintain frequent communication with HR, including monthly meetings.
  • Continuously improve processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Experience with a combined HR & Payroll system.
  • Skilled in managing payroll with both variable and contracted hours.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet multiple deadlines.
