Shift Engineer

Purpose Of The Post:

To ensure the efficiency / availability plant and machinery is maximised through the completion of reactive and proactive work within the areas designated to the role.


Skills and Career Objectives:

  1. 100% focus on service to production.
  2. Ability to organise and maintain the site standards in accordance with legislation and site procedures.
  3. Clear understanding of engineering processes and techniques for organisation of contractors and safe working practices.
  4. Utilising core skills, electrically and mechanically.
  5. Full understanding of equipment and safe systems of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. To ensure Company standards are maintained through laid down procedures and specifications.
  2. To work safely in accordance with site and departmental procedures, observing the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act, and the Food Safety Act 1990.
  3. To maintain Good Manufacturing Practice.
  4. Work in accordance with site contractor management systems ensuring correct documentation available.
  5. To be positioned within key areas as directed by shift Managers for start-up, with shift breaks staggered to provide a full rapid response to production.
  6. Daily breakdowns.
  7. Escalation procedure followed.
  8. Completion of shift work plan, as per priority order.
  9. Completion of all paperwork with full explanations of works carried out duringday/night ( shift handover )
  10. Detail parts required; A full list of part numbers to be supplied to shift Managers.
  11. Parts to be booked in/out from stores/Parts booked back in if not used.
  12. Maintain engineering workshop repairs to a minimum, tagging items and informing departments as repairs completed.
  13. Workshop and associated areas kept clean and tidy/rubbish removed to bins.
  14. Complete daily, weekly, monthly PPM schedule.
  15. Completion of other tasks as required.
