With a rich history backdating 135 years, we specialise in manufacturing small arms, and more specifically in the UK; Automatic machine guns. This position reports to the Production Director and involves working closely with several manufacturing departments.

At FNH UK - (Based in Erith, Kent) we work a 4 day week (Mon - Thur: 06:30 - 16:20) with overtime paid at 1.5X. This role is perfect for someone who has experience supervising a team in an manufacturing warehouse environment and is a fast learner with an excellent eye for detail.

Leading the metal finishing operation under limited supervision, this position performs a combination of manual and clerical duties. This position will directly manage a team of between 4 - 6 employees across various functions including chroming, sandblasting, painting and other finishing operations.

The Finishing Supervisor is responsible for leading the team to meet or exceed deadlines as set by the production leadership team, finishing parts to suit production whilst using the companies MRP stock system to accurately progress the work-flow.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the finishing team through the use of appraisals, effective delegation and performance management.
  • Reporting to the Production Director and providing updates and when required.
  • Collectively working with the leadership team to ensure that production is efficient.
  • Ordering necessary materials to enable production to operate smoothly.
  • Ensuring all personnel are correctly trained in their discipline and promote coaching and training.
  • Ensuring that all tank liquids compositions are to specification and processing equipment is maintained to a high standard.
  • Adherence to quality approvals, ensuring that high standards are maintained to deliver a product of the highest standard.
  • Undertaking a robust approach towards Health & Safety in the workshop to ensure objectives are maintained. Paying particular attention to PPE and other protective products.
  • Produce and maintain progress reports.

Essential Skills

  • Good level of understanding of inspection methods and equipment.
  • The ability to analyse problems, identify their root cause and take measures to solve them.
  • High level of communication skills at all levels.
  • Leadership skills that will enable the individual to supervise a team producing chemically processed high value precision engineering products in a safety conscious environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of hands-on production in metal chemical finishing, (primarily hard chrome plate, wet paint and manganese phosphate) and handling hazardous substances.
  • Full understanding of technical drawings and tolerances, also the attendant specifications and data sheets for metal finishing processes.
  • A high degree of knowledge of the health and safety at work act, particularly aspects of hazardous chemicals.
  • Experience working with recognised quality control systems and accreditations including ISO 9001.
  • Good level of all aspects of electro-plating fixture and anode design.
