We are seeking a dedicated Technologist to join our well-established client. This role is pivotal in managing relationships with our supplier base, conducting supplier audits, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The Technologist will be instrumental in supporting certification audits, addressing daily quality issues, and driving new product, process, and packaging developments.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Maintain and update the supplier certification database within the current system.
  • Revise and manage the internal auditing schedule.
  • Serve as a liaison between various departments including Sales & Marketing, Production, Quality & Technical.
  • Support third-party and certification audits.
  • Conduct supplier audits and attend third-party audits.
  • Support and maintain customer approval at grower sites.
  • Develop and communicate good manufacturing practices, hygiene, and product safety practices at the supplier base.
  • Communicate quality issues interdepartmentally and liaise with production teams on quality-related issues.
  • Maintain microbiological and pesticide testing databases.
  • Review testing results and assess practices for improvements.
  • Induction training for new staff in conjunction with the QC Manager.
  • Handle customer return investigations and prepare responses to customer complaints.
  • Support customer audits on-site by preparing documents and ensuring traceability.
  • Assist the Technical Manager with projects, including compiling, checking, and approving product specifications and communicating these to suppliers.
  • Engage in packaging innovation and technology projects.
  • Stay updated with relevant legislation and participate in industry forums and projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a similar Technologist role, preferably within the food production or agricultural sector.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, supplier management, and compliance protocols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with suppliers, team members, and external auditors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in maintaining and managing databases and audit schedules.
  • Knowledge of current industry legislation and standards.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
