About the role

We are looking for an Income Officer to work closely with our Neighbourhood Officers and take responsibility for the timely and effective recovery of rent arrears, service charges, and sundry debts within a designated area. In this role you will coordinate and manage legal action to recover rent arrears and other debts, as well as provide a liaison service between the organisation and housing benefit teams across a range of local authorities and with the Department for Work and Pensions. You will also offer financial inclusion advice, information and support to customers and provide debt awareness advice.

About you

As an Income Officer, you will need to be able to leverage a background in assisting customers with financial challenges, drawing on transferrable customer service skills to effectively engage and guide a wide range of clients, including those in vulnerable situations. Strong organisational skills will help you meet deadlines, prioritise tasks, and handle multiple cases efficiently. Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel and Outlook will support your documentation and reporting responsibilities. You will need excellent communication and empathetic listening skills to address customer concerns, provide clear information and negotiate positive outcomes. Additionally, a proactive approach to learning will help you keep up-to-date on relevant legislation and referral pathways to ensure customers receive the specialised support they need.
