The Group Financial Controller ("GFC") will be responsible for the Group's financial control and will lead the Group's yearly audit, responsible for setting the timetable and managing the timely preparation of statutory accounts by the Segment Responsible Finance Leads ("SRFLs").

Michael Page have been retained by an exciting, established private investment company in search of a Group Financial Controller. They pride themselves on identifying owner managed companies that can directly benefit from investment to help them reach their full potential.

Description

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure timely and disciplined monthly consolidation of the Group's Management Accounts (P&L, BS, CF).
  • Ownership of the Group's monthly flash for reporting to the Executive with comments on material variances to budget and last month.
  • Ownership of quarterly forecasting.
  • Ownership of the Group's Operating Budget timetable, preparation and consolidation.
  • The Group's finance lead on developing Power BI as the single source repository for all financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation by the GMA of the monthly management accounts with investigation into variances, monitor and analyse monthly operating results against the budget.
  • Oversee the maintenance and monitoring of the general ledger ensuring compliance to corporate and national standards.
  • The lead on a schedule of Group finance process improvement projects working closely with the SRFLs.
  • Overseeing the revamp of internal recharging, to cut down on time spent processing and improve visibility of the Group Finance function to the Group companies.
  • Implementing an automated consolidation process.
  • Ownership of the Group FA Register taking feeds in from SRFLs.
  • Work with SRFLs to ensure clean and timely integration of any acquisition, divestment, hive up etc.
  • To best prepare the Group for inorganic and organic growth by being pro-active, curious, innovative and showing initiative to achieve the Group's goals.
  • Ownership, gatekeeper and communicator of the Group Financial Calendar including Audit timetable and statutory accounts preparation.

Profile

The successful Group Financial Controller:

  • ACA, CIMA, ACCA Qualified
  • Highly skilled financial accountant with experience of consolidation, acquisition and disposal accounting.
  • Proven leadership qualities.
  • Proven successful change management experience.
  • Proven ability to forward plan, to prioritise the GMA, set milestones and deliver against a plan.
  • Proven ability to positively influence stakeholders, to lead by example. To be able to seek support independently and proactively both within the Group and externally to achieve the goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook etc).
  • Experience of finance systems, Sage preferable.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing documentation and records.
  • Ability to interact positively with external advisers, internal customers and team members.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
