Our client, a leading organisation based in the southwest, is currently seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller, to join their forward-thinking team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for providing strategic oversight and leadership across all aspects of financial control, compliance, and reporting for the organisation. You will play an integral role in leading and developing finance teams, ensuring compliance, technical accuracy, and reporting excellence, while driving best practices and business performance.

The responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the preparation of annual statutory accounts and coordinate the audit process.
  • Evaluate and enhance financial controls and procedures to ensure adherence to best practices across the organisation.
  • Supervise the preparation and review of annual financial statements, including subsidiary accounts and group consolidation.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to the Finance Team to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Oversee all tax-related activities, including corporation tax, VAT, payroll taxes, and liaise with external advisors as needed.
  • Monitor cash flow forecasts to secure liquidity, optimise debt costs, and maximise returns on surplus funds.
  • Lead balance sheet reconciliation processes, producing monthly summaries to highlight risks and opportunities.

The candidate:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent certification).
  • Demonstrated success in financial leadership roles, including driving significant improvement projects in fast-paced environments.
  • Solid experience in accounting or audit firms, with expertise in group consolidations, statutory accounts, and tax compliance.
  • Advanced knowledge of cash flow management, forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Proficient in IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and deliver transformative initiatives.
