Job Description Chief Executive Officer (Voluntary)
The Olive Project is a by and for charity based in Devon.Our aim to provide support to Black and Minoritised Victims and Survivors of Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence, to enable them to live free from harm and abuse.
We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and dedicated Chief Executive Officer to develop our work as a new charity.They will live our values of humanity, justice and accountability.
Salary: £45k per annum pro rota
Job length: Permanent
Location: Exeter Based with some travel around Devon and Cornwall
Key responsibilities
Leadership, strategy, and development:
To hold the direction of the organisation in line with our mission, vision, values and current operational targets
To oversee a thriving team culture with high quality line management and support systems for staff, trustees and volunteers.
To develop the financial security of the organisation through bid writing, appropriate resource allocation and effective monitoring and evaluation of services.
To develop local and national partnerships with specialist organisations, funders, government departments, the voluntary sector, and political parties.
Governance:
To work with the Board of Trustees in implementing our vision, mission and values, leading on the implementation of our strategic goals, providing regular updates and proposing new services based on need demonstrated through the evaluation of our services and projects.
To develop risk management procedures and policies with a focus on safeguarding, well-being and financial stability.
To develop and increase the organisations financial resources, financial systems and evaluation systems and ensure that they are managed effectively.
Case work
To provide direct support to Black and Minoritised Victims and Survivors affected by Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence.
Develop culturally competent safety plans, risk assessments, referrals, and emotional support.
To support and manage staff and volunteers who provide direct one to one support to ensure safeguarding measures are maintained.
To gain feedback from the BMVS that are supported to ensure that their voice remains centred within the organisation.
Training
To develop training programmes that effectively address the needs and lived experiences of BMVS and how services can address them.
To deliver training programmes to local voluntary and statutory services on the needs and lived experiences of BMVS and how services can address them.
Other duties:
Carrying out any other duties which fall reasonably within this role. Occasionally working outside of hours and travel to and from the office.
Person Specification
Essential
Masters qualification relating to domestic abuse or sexual violence.
Demonstrable experience of providing direct support to Black and Minoritized victims and survivors.
Demonstrable experience of working within a policy role that focussed on equalities and anti-oppression.
Demonstrable local knowledge of Devon and Cornwall and its statutory and voluntary services.
Previous experience of setting up or working with a new charity.
Previous experience of securing funding for a new charity.
Alignment with the values and ethos of The Olive Project.
Desirable
Excellent interpersonal, listening, collaboration and communication skills, able to learn from, support and connect with others.
Demonstrable commitment to supporting the mental wellbeing of staff and volunteers, and the safeguarding of those seeking the charitys support.
Flexibility to adapt and respond to different challenges in order to meet changing needs and priorities.
Knowledge of The Olive Project and its trustees.
Established professional relationships with local statutory and voluntary organisations that may work with BMVS and anti-oppressive practice.
Fluency in another language.
