The role - Risk Manager

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

· To lead the implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management framework (ERMF) and processes

· To support, challenge, and influence management and their teams in embedding the enterprise risk management framework

· To support all business areas to identify, assess, manage, and monitor all key risks.

· To aggregate all risk insights to support key decision making and risk reporting.

· To develop and enhance critical risk MI for consumption by the Executive, Board and Board Committees.

· To support the CRO to provide an independent view of the effectiveness of The businesses risk management; and

· To provide advice, guidance, and recommendations on risk mitigation to management and their teams

· To safeguard TEX’s strategic objectives, operational integrity, and reputation by implementing robust risk management practices that support informed decision-making and organisational resilience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Work with relevant stakeholders and risk owners to design new and improve existing risk processes and MI that is aligned to the requirements set out in the ERMF and meets the Board’s and Regulator’s expectations.

· Provide support and challenge on how key risks and controls are being identified, assessed, managed, monitored, and reported spanning different risk profiles.

· To co-ordinate and carry out targeted reviews of the core risk processes and MI to ensure they remain effective and within agreed risk maturity benchmarks

· To undertake thematic reviews of the risk profile, including risk deep dives and input into scenario workshops

· To facilitate monthly and quarterly risk and control assessment reviews and review/challenge the completeness and accuracy of the outputs to drive improvements.

· To facilitate and drive action planning for emerging risk identification and assessment.

· To challenge the status quo and find pragmatic and proportionate solutions to ensure risk management is being effectively embedded and used.

· Coordination of responses to 2nd line, 3rd line and external risk and control assurance providers relating to control assurance findings ensuring adequate business engagement and progress in making agreed control improvements.

· To promote a culture which recognises the importance and commercial value of good risk management.

· To help aggregate risk assessments for executive committee and board risk reporting

· To monitor risk metrics and make recommendations on actions where risk metrics are not met.

· Collaborating with risk managers on reporting and evaluation techniques to support the ongoing collection and interpretation of risk management data.

· Conduct risk assessments to help the organisation make smart decisions, prioritise work and solve problems.

· Conduct risk outlook analysis to help the organisation identify opportunities and threats.

· To provide training on the ERMF

· Provide comprehensive 2nd line oversight of transformation and operational risks across the organisation, ensuring effective risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

· Demonstrable knowledge of PRA and FCA requirements and expectations of what good governance and risk management looks like in the context of the health and protection insurance sector along with strong examples of involvement in their design, implementation, and practical application.

· A good understanding of a risk framework, the underlying components and experience in evaluating what successful embedding of that framework should look like.

· In-depth understanding of risk and control assessment and assurance techniques along with experience in their application.

· Experience of providing risk advice, challenge and direction into change projects and business operations that influences and drives better risk outcomes.

· Commercial awareness and pragmatism that drives agreement to solutions with appropriate risk/reward outcomes.

· Ability to work in a highly rapid change environment with ambiguity, whilst still delivering at pace and to good quality standards

· Autonomous, whilst being able to recognise and ask for support when needed.

· Strong analytical skills and connecting the dots.

· Ability to process, collate, and present findings in a clear and consistent manner.

· Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, while working collaboratively with the business

· Previous risk management partnering experience, including coaching of others to support their development.

· Ability to communicate at all management levels.

· Significant experience in risk management, preferably in a financial services firm.

· Risk management related degree or industry recognised risk management certification.

· Strong project management skills

· Proficient in using an enterprise risk management software.

· Proficient in Microsoft 365 Office Suite
