Job Title: HIU Technician
Location: Exeter (with travel to Reading, Bath, and Southampton)
Salary: Competitive, with opportunities for progression
Driving License Required: Yes (due to travel requirements)

We are looking for a skilled HIU Technician to join our growing team in the Exeter, Reading, Bath, and Southampton regions. This exciting opportunity offers a balance of hands-on work and managing resources across a variety of District Heating Networks (DHN) and communal heating schemes, ensuring the efficient operation of HIU-related installations and maintenance activities.



Main Responsibilities:

  • Carry out HIU installation, maintenance, and servicing
  • Address breakdowns, upgrades, and commissioning
  • Perform general plumbing and heating (HVAC) work
  • Follow correct working processes and capture accurate visit details
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including PPE requirements


Key Skills & Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent) in plumbing, heating, or mechanical engineering
  • Significant experience in general plumbing, heating, and mechanical systems
  • Basic electrical knowledge (advantageous)
  • Previous experience with HIUs and District Heating Networks is a plus
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Gas safety registration (advantageous but not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with customers
  • IT literate and confident using computers


Further Details:

In this role, you'll maintain, troubleshoot, and replace HIUs, similar to domestic gas boilers. You'll work on a variety of heating technologies, including Heat Pumps, AMR, and Metering, across approximately 40+ DHN sites and growing. You'll have the chance to develop your expertise in District Heating and Heat Pump Technology while progressing to other areas within the business.
