The Support Worker will provide assistance and support to individuals with physical, mental, and emotional needs. The role involves helping clients achieve a higher level of independence, enhancing their quality of life, and ensuring their well-being through personal care, daily living assistance, and emotional support.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care:
- Assist clients with personal hygiene tasks such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Support clients with mobility, including using wheelchairs, lifts, and other aids.
- Help clients with feeding and ensuring they maintain a balanced diet.
Daily Living Assistance:
- Assist clients with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
- Accompany clients to appointments, social activities, and community events.
- Help clients manage their finances, including budgeting and paying bills.
Emotional and Social Support:
- Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities.
- Support clients in developing social networks and participating in community life.
- Listen to clients' concerns and provide emotional reassurance and support.
Healthcare Support:
- Administer medication as prescribed and monitor for any side effects.
- Assist with physical therapy exercises as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Observe and report any changes in clients' health or behavior to the relevant healthcare professionals.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of care provided and clients' progress.
- Ensure all documentation complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Report any incidents or concerns promptly and appropriately.
Professional Development:
- Participate in training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Stay updated on best practices and new developments in care and support.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification in Health and Social Care or related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in a care or support role is advantageous.
- Basic life support (BLS) certification is an advantage.
