Job Title: Senior Service Designer

Job Summary & Purpose

This role will be within the Data Provisioning team. Data Provisioning aims to get our client's world-class weather data into the hands of people who can use it to help others stay safe and thrive. As a Senior Service Designer within the Data Provisioning team, you will be responsible for considering the end-to-end journey of the service for acquiring data from the client. The service should be designed to help users achieve their goal of acquiring the data they need, while also delivering our client's goal of using their data to create social value and economic benefits. In this role, your work will involve the creation of, or changes to, products, data, content, and transactions across digital channels provided by internal and external systems.

You will uncover the best ways for users to interact with Data Provisioning Services (such as the Weather Data Hub) by developing designs based on user needs and organisational outcomes. A Senior Service Designer is an experienced designer who works with minimal support and can influence and mentor others.

At this level, you will:

  • Work with Senior Product Managers, Programme Directors, and project boards to develop design concepts
  • Have responsibility across a range of complex services
  • Help set direction and embed good user-centred design practice within teams
  • Make important decisions based on research and understand how this research impacts others
  • Conduct and interpret evidence-based research and incorporate this into your work
