As the school continues to grow and develop, they seek a proactive and innovative Assistant Bursar to support their finance team and contribute to the school's ongoing success.

Assistant Bursar Responsibilities:

As Assistant Bursar, you will work closely with the Bursar to support the school's finance and operational functions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with financial management, including budget monitoring and preparation of management accounts
  • Supporting the Bursar in estates management, facilities leasing, and health & safety compliance
  • Overseeing purchase ledger processes and supervising payroll administration
  • Managing facilities lettings administration and coordinating external bookings
  • Preparing financial records for auditing purposes and assisting with VAT returns
  • Contributing to the development of financial procedures and operational systems
  • Supporting general administration and organisation of the Bursary function

Assistant Bursar Requirements:

The ideal Assistant Bursar will possess:

  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and financial management software
  • Experience in preparing financial records for auditing and VAT returns
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work proactively and use initiative to solve problems
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Experience in an educational or charity/not-for-profit environment (desirable)
  • An accountancy qualification relevant to the post (e.g., AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA) (desirable)
