We are currently working with a Local Authority in the South West who are looking to recruit a Community Safety Officer to join the Environmental Health and Community Safety team in the Neighbourhoods unit.

Job: Community Safety Officer – Anti Social Behaviour

Duration: Initial 3-months

Rate: £20 per hour via Umbrella

Shift pattern: 4 days on, 3 days off including weekends.  This is a rolling shift pattern over 7 days averaging 37 hours per week.  Shift pattern TBC at informal interview.

Job purpose

  • To investigate complaints and incidents relating to matters of anti-social behaviour, enviro crime, stray dogs and unauthorised encampments whilst providing support to victims and complainants
  • Promote and develop a multi-agency and corporate approach to anti-social behaviour and enviro crime

Responsibilities

  • To investigate complaints of anti-social behaviour and enviro crime from the first point of referral through to resolution, including advising and supporting complainants, witnesses and perpetrators
  • Be a regular visible presence in the city, taking a proactive response to complaints of anti-social behaviour, enviro crime and unauthorized encampments
  • To provide robust evidence when required to enable formal action to be undertaken, including the taking of witness statements, interviewing under caution, compiling accurate case and prosecution files and where appropriate attend court to give evidence
  • Promote good working relationships with partners such as the police, business community, other council services, other local authorities, social landlords and the voluntary sector
  • Represent the Council at meetings with internal and external partners

This is Anti-Social Behaviour, so anything along the lines of enforcement work, dealing with people, report writing, or something along the lines of door supervisor/security/community safety roles would be considered. The candidate must be a driver.
