Your new roleSalary: £24,500 per yearHours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract type: Permanent

Location: ExeterThis post is to deliver a high-quality, person-centred outreach service, working as part of a team, and making contact with new, repeat and long-term rough sleepers across the Exeter Council area. You'll be required to develop person-centred support plans that work with the individual to address their health, social and emotional needs in order to be able to sustain a healthy life away from the streets.

You'll be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support the individuals who are experiencing homelessness into 'off the streets' placements (short-term assessment beds), and you will offer continued support to minimise abandonment, sustain accommodation, and help people access settled accommodation that ensures they do not return to the streets.

Please note, that this will include working unsocial hours and being able to walk a number of miles in all weather conditions, and will also include participation in and outreach rota which covers early morning, evenings and weekends.What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous work with homeless and/or other socially excluded people
  • Have full driving licence and access to own car
  • Plan and organise own work whilst having the ability to work on own initiative under pressure
  • Understanding of the causes of offending, homelessness and social exclusion and approaches which seek to address these
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills - with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and services
  • Administrative and computer skills - using Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Work flexibly towards creative solutions in a person-centred way with individuals who may have seemingly intractable problems
