Job Title: Learning Consultant
Work Location: Hybrid Teams/Exeter Office

About the Job

Our client produces and delivers weather and climate predictions from a range of different computer models, which are used to generate a wide array of products for their customers worldwide. Our client is mid-way through a major new 'Next Generation' Programme to prepare its operational weather forecasting system for future supercomputer platforms, which are likely to be radically different from those currently used.

We are seeking a technical author who will work with our client's domain experts to create training material content in support of Momentum, our new weather and climate framework for use by the client and international partners. You'll champion and advocate the best way to create content via iterative research and design cycles. You'll work collaboratively as part of a team, and the wider business, to ensure that content meets user and business needs. You will be an experienced practitioner who works with minimal support and can influence others.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with the Momentum Partnership team and expert developers to develop training materials.
  2. Transfer training material content from various resource formats to a standardised online content platform (e.g., using Sphinx), ensuring a coherent storyline, effective, accessible, and inclusive content.
  3. Liaise with experts to review training content, ensuring suitability for release.
  4. Ensure training design standards, guidelines, and best practices are adhered to.
  5. Proactively interact with end users to provide and improve the content for use in training materials.

Essential Criteria

  1. Experience in developing software training content suitable for delivery to end users.
  2. Experience in code version control systems, particularly Git, with experience in branching, merging, and handling pull requests.
  3. Demonstrated experience with mark-down languages (e.g., Sphinx) to create technical content.
  4. Evidence of cross-team collaboration and teamwork.

Additional Supplementary Information

Our client embraces hybrid working, and options exist to work either at the office or remotely, subject to agreement with the Project Manager.
