Butler Rose is delighted to be partnering with our esteemed client, a reputable manufacturer in the Exeter area, who is seeking an accomplished Purchasing Manager to lead their procurement function. Objective

The Purchasing Manager will oversee the Purchasing Department, ensuring an effective supply chain that supports the production plan, meets cost, quality, and delivery requirements, and reduces business risk. You will build and lead a high-performing team, improve supply chain effectiveness, and develop strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a secure and competitive supply base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to create cost-effective and efficient procurement while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Lead the Purchasing Team to deliver goals aligned with business objectives, ensuring they have the necessary tools, training, and resources.
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure consistent delivery of quality and cost-effective products.
  • Identify and develop new supply sources to foster competition and safeguard capacity.
  • Drive negotiations with suppliers to secure advantageous contract terms.
  • Address and resolve supplier performance issues, ensuring standards are met.
  • Forecast, plan, and support the management of supply and service contracts.
  • Monitor spend profiles and achieve continuous improvement targets year-on-year.
  • Oversee purchasing roles, approval processes, and reporting to EMEA&A Management.

Requirements

  • Degree educated and/or CIPS qualified desirable
  • Experience in manufacturing procurement
  • Proven managerial experience in a similar role.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Advanced skills in negotiation, communication, influencing, and presentation.
  • Experience in contracts management.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team management, motivation, and decision-making abilities.
  • Background in working across multi-functional departments.
  • Professional communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to deliver professional, data-driven reports.
