A respected medium size building contractor based in Fareham is searching for a Senior Estimator to join the business.

The company undertakes a variety of refurbishment and new build projects for clients such as the NHS, MOD, Local Authority, Education and Commercial sectors, with contract values ranging from £50K to £4M.

The company has been successfully running for over 13 years and have established themselves as a recognised contractor with a current turnover of £15M.

They are a friendly and family feel business who will offer hybrid and flexible working and are open to considering applications from Estimators or Senior Estimators who have a construction background.

Responsibilities of the Senior Estimator.

• Undertake all estimating duties and report to the Managing Director.
• Estimating primarily Refurbishment and New Build projects .
• Take ownership of the estimating process and follow a robust estimating procedure including managing all enquiries to sub-contractors, choosing applicable sub-contractors, and communicating other bid requirements to members of the bid team.
• Take ownership of the entire bid process, which includes liaising with the Architect or PQS, establishing the bid requirements for submission, agreeing responsibility for the bid requirements, setting up and chairing tender launch, mid bid and settlement meetings, liaising with the marketing department to ensure the bid is submitted to company standards on time.
• Completing quantity take offs as required and completing schedules of work, or bills of quantities if applicable.
• Thoroughly analysing sub-contract returns (including sub-contract comparisons) and engaging with the supply chain throughout the bid to ensure suitable returns are provided.

Requirements of the Senior Estimator

• Detailed knowledge of the construction industry.
• Have a good understanding of traditional building methods.
• Good experience working with estimating software like Causeway
• Have a good working knowledge MS Office - Intermediate level of Excel.
• Ability to write clear and precise communications which might include detailed and complex figures, calculations, and specific building information.
• Strong numeracy and financial management skills and the ability to learn construction IT packages.
• Ability to complete take offs and produce detailed schedules of work when required.
