This Material Review Engineer role is with a manufacturer located in the Segensworth, Fareham area. The company employs around 200 people and is continuing to grow! The position offers a Monday to Friday work week, with standard office hours and an early finish at 12:30 pm on Fridays. The salary for this role is up to £50,000, depending on experience. If preferred, there is the potential for this role to be part time.

In this role, you will provide technical support to the Production and Quality teams for Material Review Board (MRB) decisions, including reviewing and evaluating non-conforming materials. You will perform Engineering Contract Reviews for existing products with a focus on materials and treatments, and analyse products to ensure material specifications and performance standards are met. Additionally, you will manage production support activities related to material shortages, offer alternative justifications to clients, and ensure compliance with specifications. You will also oversee obsolescence activities related to materials and treatments for legacy products and establish and maintain the product verification matrix, which includes testing, reviewing, and reporting on material performance. Moreover, you will provide technical support both internally and externally, and effectively communicate with relevant stakeholders, including Sales Engineers, Account Managers, Customers, and various internal teams such as Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Planning, as well as Subcontractors.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering
  • Ability to understand technical specifications and develop a working knowledge of existing company products
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • HNC Qualification or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Excellent communication skills
