An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Fire Engineer to join a boutique multidisciplinary consultancy based in the heart of London, near Hatton Garden.

This dynamic SME is known for its expert approach and commitment to delivering tailored fire safety solutions across the residential sector, encompassing both new builds and existing housing.

The Fire Engineer's Role

As a Fire Engineer, you will work with a wide range of clients, providing expert advice and delivering fire safety solutions that prioritise compliance and innovation. Your primary responsibilities will include producing Fire Risk Appraisals of External Walls (FRAEWs) and creating detailed fire strategies for new and existing residential properties.

You will also play a key role in interpreting and applying fire safety regulations, offering expert guidance on building faades and compliance with legislation such as the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Act 2021.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out FRAEWs in line with PAS 9980 guidance.
  • Developing fire strategies for new builds and existing housing.
  • Advising clients on compliance with current fire safety legislation and building regulations.
  • Assessing faade types and their fire performance.
  • Applying relevant industry standards and guidance, including LACoRS, NFCC, and Fire Safety in Purpose-Built Blocks of Flats.

The Successful Fire Engineer Will Have

The ideal Fire Engineer will have a strong background in fire safety consultancy, a sound knowledge of faade systems, and a thorough understanding of fire safety regulations.

You should be comfortable managing complex residential projects, delivering detailed reports, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
  • Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (as amended)
  • Fire Safety Act 2021
  • PAS 9980 and related guidance
  • Understanding of building faade types and fire risks.
  • Familiarity with fire safety in residential settings, including NFCC and LACoRS guidance.
  • Relevant degree or fire engineering qualification (or equivalent experience).
