Job Title: Head of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) Location: - London & Southeast

Overview
My client is seeking an experienced, technically skilled, and delivery-focused Head of MEP to lead and oversee all MEP operations within the business.
In this key role, you will manage the full MEP lifecycle-from pre-construction through to project completion-ensuring seamless execution and the highest standards of quality. Leading a team of project-based M&E professionals, you will provide strategic oversight, drive technical excellence, and ensure successful project delivery.
Additionally, you will be responsible for resource planning and management, optimising team allocation across multiple projects to enhance efficiency and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategy
Define and implement the MEP strategy across all projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Lead and manage the MEP teams, fostering collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.
Act as the primary point of contact for all MEP-related issues, offering technical guidance to resolve challenges effectively.
Preconstruction Management
Work closely with the preconstruction team to assess MEP requirements during tender and planning stages.
Review and approve technical MEP designs, specifications, and schedules, ensuring feasibility and alignment with project goals.
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies during the planning phase.
Project Delivery
Oversee MEP delivery across multiple projects by directing and guiding Senior M&E personal, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and budgetary standards.
Monitor and report project progress upstream to Group Construction Director, ensuring all MEP works are executed in line with timelines and specifications.
Conduct regular site visits to assess the quality of MEP installations and resolve any technical or logistical challenges.
Resource Planning and Management
Manage MEP resources across projects, reallocating personnel and equipment as necessary to meet project demands.
Identify skill gaps and training needs within the MEP function, implementing development programs to enhance performance.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure efficient use of resources and avoid delays.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
Ensure MEP systems meet all regulatory and statutory requirements, including health and safety standards.
Establish and maintain robust QA/QC processes for MEP installations.
Conduct technical audits and inspections, addressing non-compliance promptly.

Qualifications and Experience
A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
Significant demonstrable experience in MEP project management, with most recent experience in a senior leadership role.
Experience of developing processes and procedures
Experience of delivering multiple complex building projects with MEP values ranging between 20 - 50 million in value.
Demonstrable experience in preconstruction planning, resource allocation, and project delivery within the construction industry.
Comprehensive knowledge of UK building regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.
Chartered status or membership with a recognised professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IET) is desirable.
