This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established, growing and innovative practice. Supporting the Manager in one of the Business Services Pods, you will be responsible for all aspects of work for a portfolio of clients, providing a variety of services.

This role is essential to meeting clients’ evolving requirements, delivering long term sustainable value to businesses by providing a range of solutions and advice such as statutory accounts, audit, accounting and VAT advice, and self-assessment corporate and personal tax returns.

The role is fully office based and working in a friendly team, as well as some independent tasks, and will be great for a driven, ambitious and versatile individual who is looking for their next challenge.

Qualifications and Systems Experience:

  • Highly IT literate. Must have worked with a variety of accounting software packages, be able to adapt quickly to new software.
  • Advanced Excel skills. Must be confident in using VLOOKUP, SUMIF and SUMIFS.
  • ACA or ACCA recently or nearly qualified.

Relevant Experience:

  • Proficient in the preparation of statutory accounts, audit, VAT returns, payroll, and personal, partnership & corporation tax returns. Able to work on some more complex cases with guidance/support.
  • Experience working on audits for a variety of clients of different sizes and in varying sectors, with an understanding of auditing techniques and objectives.
  • Previous experience working in public practice.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing statutory accounts, auditing, VAT returns, payroll, corporation tax and personal tax returns, and reviewing some simple ones.
  • Ensure the year end files are complete with back up schedules
  • Ensuring consistent quality over all work.
  • Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Supervising, managing, motivating and training junior staff.
  • Following existing systems, updating them, and developing new ones as appropriate.
  • Ensuring budgets are met.
  • Reviewing VAT returns, understanding VAT requirements, concepts and calculations.
