Autumn Search are thrilled to be recruiting for an Area Operations Manager on behalf of an award winning independent Domiciliary Care company. My client is part of a prestigious national franchise network who specialise in high quality care for elderly people wishing to remain living in their own home. Due to the successful growth of two established offices in West Surrey, my client is now actively seeking an Area Operations Manager. The role will suit an ambitious individual with proven experience and understanding of the Domiciliary Care Sector. If you are presently a Registered Care Manager or Care Manager who is looking to progress their career in an inspiring environment, this role may be of interest to you. PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Operations Manager is a vital part of ensuring the success and reputation of a franchise office. My client takes great care to appoint the right person.

  • Line manage the management team for two respective offices, set targets, objectives and identify training needs
  • Helping the company to promote high staff morale and communicate the company’s operating policies, customer issues and safety measures
  • Performing financial predictions by preparing the annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analysing variance and initiating corrective actions
  • Developing and enforcing operating procedures by evaluating current procedures as part of a cycle of as a reactive measure
  • Performing HR duties such as recruiting, selecting, counselling and disciplining employees
  • Reviewing and approving operational invoices and forwarding them to payment
  • Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations pertaining specifically to home care
  • Implement the requirements of the CQC "Fundamental Standards for Care"

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development:

  • Support the marketing of the business to the local community & to health care professionals in the area
  • Work closely with the Director to feed ideas to others within marketing roles that will create links to key contacts within the local community
  • Conduct in-depth discussions with potential customers to sell the services and secure

Business

  • Recruit a care team with the support of the company directors to aid the delivery of a parallel growth strategy

Day-to-day operational management:

  • Lead the Management team within the business(es) and to keep the Director updated with matters needing attention
  • Create and enforce internal SOPs relating to day to day activities, ensuring staff are clear and adhere to standards contained within
  • Build and sustain a culture and mindset of continuous growth, to create confidence and competence within the respective management teams. Leading to high standards around handling enquiries, securing assessments and maximising overall opportunities in all areas
  • Utilise appropriate staff members to investigate complaints, take appropriate action and report to the person-in-control and/or the CQC
  • Liaise with and co-operate with Care Quality Commission inspectors and inspections
  • Ensure that all client/staff documentation/ data entry is completed and maintained correctly, utilising staff to undertake and manage the company’s audit & Quality Assurance cycle
  • Ensure the accuracy, security and retention of records to the required standard and timescales
  • Ensure appropriate staff are tasked with providing on-call support to clients and carers during mornings, evenings and weekends ensuring that all calls are covered & delivering care sessions where required. Hands-on in the event of staff shortfall

Client Care:

  • Ensure senior staff promote and uphold the highest standard of care to all clients in line with company policies and procedures
  • Ensure that employees of the agency recognise emotional, spiritual, physical, medical and material needs of the clients, and are assessed and met and to support clients in the taking of decisions in matters which affect their lifestyle
  • Ensure senior staff make or contribute to the assessment of need of each client in conjunction with the client, relevant professional agencies and, where appropriate, the client’s family, and develop a Care Plan which is person centred & promotes independence for each client
  • Ensure provision of healthcare arrangements which may include the ordering, recording and, where appropriate, the administration of prescribed medication
  • Ensure the provision of a responsive care service by liaising with the family and client advocates, GP and other health care professionals where appropriate
  • Ensure senior staff manage the risk assessment procedures for the agency in line with company policies
  • Follow local safeguarding guidance and reporting mechanisms to ensure the safety of clients, staff and others

Staff:

  • Plan and drive the recruitment, appointment and deployment of staff. Delegating appropriate duties to senior staff
  • Ensure that there is good communication with and between staff and to conduct operational meetings
  • Ensure that senior staff conduct inductions, supervisions, assessments and appraisals of staff and training needs are met
  • Ensure that all employment legislation is implemented
  • Ensure senior staff uphold the safety and wellbeing of staff through effective management of Health & Safety, lone working and other relevant policies
