We are seeking an Outsourced Accounting Manager to head up our Business Services and Outsourcing team, managing client portfolios, leading a team, and delivering high-quality financial solutions.

The Role

As an Outsourced Accounting Manager, you will play a key role in managing the financial needs of a portfolio of entrepreneurial and high-growth businesses. Working closely with the Managing Director, you will lead your team to deliver end-to-end accounting solutions, ensuring the highest standards of service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Client portfolio management: Deliver a comprehensive range of financial services, including accounting, bookkeeping, VAT returns, and tax preparation (personal, corporate, and partnership).
  • Team leadership: Manage and motivate a team of accounting professionals, ensuring all work is completed to high standards and within deadlines.
  • Financial reporting: Review statutory accounts, corporation tax, and personal tax returns. Ensure quality control over financial transactions.
  • Client advisory services: Provide strategic financial advice and support clients in areas such as cash flow management, revenue recognition, and internal controls.
  • VAT expertise: Prepare, review, and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Continuous improvement: Develop and implement systems to improve efficiency and accuracy in client financial processes.

This office-based role offers a blend of independent tasks and collaborative team efforts. You will work closely with clients, providing proactive advice and financial solutions to meet their evolving business needs.

About You

To excel in this role, you should be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with experience in a public practice environment. You must have a solid understanding of key accounting principles and be comfortable managing client relationships and leading a team in a fast-paced environment.

Key qualifications and experience include:

  • Expert knowledge of Xero: Experience with related software like Dext, Chaser, and Modulr is a plus. Familiarity with IRIS is desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills: Confident using VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and SUMIFS functions.
  • Client management: Proven experience working in an outsourced finance function with regular client interaction.
  • VAT and tax expertise: Strong understanding of VAT regulations and experience preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.
  • Leadership experience: Ability to manage workflows, meet deadlines, and guide a team to success.

You should be a strong communicator, able to handle client inquiries confidently and professionally. Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work under pressure are essential for this role.
