We are looking for an experienced and passionate Nursery Chef to join our wonderful nursery setting in Farnham. As the Nursery Chef, you will be responsible for creating delicious, nutritious, and balanced meals for our children, while ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities of the Nursery Chef:
- Plan and prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals for children, adhering to dietary requirements, allergies, and nutritional guidelines.
- Run engaging and fun cookery sessions with the children, promoting healthy eating and teaching basic cooking skills.
- Manage the kitchen independently, overseeing all aspects of food preparation, cooking, and food storage.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, environmental health regulations, and health and safety procedures.
- Order food and kitchen supplies, manage inventory, and keep accurate records of stock levels.
- Develop and maintain weekly menus, ensuring a variety of meals to support children's health and preferences.
- Manage food budgets, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high food quality.
- Ensure food allergies and dietary restrictions are properly handled to ensure the safety of all children.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment at all times.
What We’re Looking For in a Nursery Chef:
- Previous experience working as a chef, ideally in a nursery or childcare setting.
- Knowledge and experience in creating healthy, balanced meals for young children.
- Strong understanding of food allergies, dietary requirements, and food safety regulations.
- Ability to work independently and manage all aspects of a kitchen.
- Passion for teaching children about healthy eating and food preparation.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage kitchen budgets effectively.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
