We are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established freight forwarding and logistics business in Felixstowe who are currently seeking to appoint a Customs Clearance Coordinator to join their successful team. The role will entail liaising with Customers, Customs Authorities and handling Import Customs Clearances from start to finish to support the successful forwarding of the goods.

Key Duties:

  • Processing of Customs declarations
  • Inputting costs & charges into the system
  • Ensuring any detains or queries are logged and followed through to completion
  • Support Customers and colleagues with Customs requirements and technical information
  • Support the Customs team in maintaining compliance and AEO standards
  • Work with Customs partners to offer an end-to-end Customs service
  • Complete import & export customs declarations and in accordance with customer instructions
  • Prioritise clearances based on arrival date
  • Provide Customer support by providing guidance on Customs related matters
  • Ensure prompt invoicing of Duty & VAT outlaid from Jordon Deferment (training entry, advise finance department of amounts for raising of pro-forma)
  • Log & record any instances of post clearance action
  • Support and advise all customers whilst ensuring the company is fully compliant with the requirements of HMRC
  • Work with Customs partners to offer an end-to-end Customs service
  • Communicate openly with logistics operations / brokerage only customers to notify them of any issues which could impact the collection or delivery of cargoes

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Import/Exports Customs Clearance experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work within a team and independently as appropriate
  • Good Interpersonal skills, face-to-face and via telephone
  • A positive, can-do attitude
