Senior Design Engineer (Highways & Drainage)

Due to exceptional workloads, the company seeks an experienced Senior Design Engineer with expertise in drainage to join the highways design team at their Fleet office.
In this role as Principal Design Engineer, you will assist with designing and implementing advanced drainage solutions that align with regulatory standards and environmental best practices. Your extensive highways design experience will be vital to managing projects focused on innovation, safety, and developing resilient, sustainable infrastructure.
Main Duties:
路Ensure designs are completed within budget and program timelines.
路Manage resource allocation to fully utilize team members on high-priority tasks.
路Collaborate with the Senior Management Team to support cross-office and cross-discipline projects.
路Integrate requirements from relevant Authorities and Statutory bodies into designs.
路Authorize design information and reports, offering constructive feedback.
路Adhere to MCHW, DMRB, and local design guidance in all designs.
路Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the team.
路Comply with Health & Safety regulations, particularly CDM, and proactively manage risk.
Essential Requirements:
路Experience with Section 278 and Section 38 highway design projects.
路Proficiency in highway drainage design and MicroDrainage software.
路Strong management skills with the confidence to lead teams on complex projects.
路Extensive technical skills across various highway design environments.
路Proven experience in project management for highway projects, delivering on time and within budget.
路Ability to exercise sound independent judgment.
路Experience mentoring and supervising Highway Design staff.
路Robust knowledge of DMRB technical documents.
路Experience managing contract document development in accordance with Highway contracts.
路Ability to advise clients on technical issues in highway structures.
路Working knowledge of the Civils 3D CAD package.
Desirable Requirements:
路Experience in preparing cost estimates.
路Membership in a relevant Chartered Institute.
路Valid UK driving license.
