Quantity Surveyor

Location: Frome (1-2 days in the office)
Contract Type: Permanent/ Full-Time

A Quantity Surveyor is required to join a contractor specialising in providing surfacing and road planning services to the highway and road construction industry.

Quantity Surveyor - The role:

  • Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets, cost forecasts, and financial reports.
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis, value engineering, and risk assessments.
  • Administer contracts, including NEC and JCT forms of contract, ensuring compliance and managing variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Procure subcontractors and suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage commercial relationships.
  • Measure and value completed work, processing payments and resolving any commercial disputes.
  • Work closely with the site teams to ensure accurate record-keeping, cost tracking, and financial controls.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Assist in pricing new tenders and estimating project costs.

Quantity Surveyor - Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Previous experience of quantity surveying within the highways, surfacing or civil engineering sectors
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, JCT, and other standard forms of contract
  • Proficiency in cost management software and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent commercial awareness, negotiation skills, and attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence as site visits may be required
