My client, based in Gateshead, is an established IT services provider with an enviable reputation in the SME business community for its IT service and support offering. They are in the midst of a recruitment drive, bolstering their service team, and at the heart of their plans is the appointment of a Business Development Manager who will be responsible for increasing their presence across the North East.

The Role:

The Business Development Manager will play a key role in identifying and winning new business in the North East. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering new sales, predominantly across the North East
  • Developing and nurturing your own leads
  • Taking leads from presales and developing them
  • Managing the sales process end-to-end, including commercial negotiations
  • Working with the internal technical team to ensure solutions solve clients’ challenges
  • Providing first class customer-focused approach
  • Being responsible for managing a number of key accounts ensuring a high level of repeat business, in addition to developing a pipeline of new business
  • Attending conferences and networking events as and when required to support the needs of the business.

The Candidate:

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong track record in winning new business who can demonstrate the following:

  • Have at least 2 years’ experience in a sales role in the North East
  • Have experience of sales within a B2B environment
  • Be highly motivated with a demonstrable track record of overachieving in a new business mandate
  • Have exceptional communication skills
  • Be customer focused.

In addition to an annual salary of £36k for this initially office-based role, the company offers a very attractive commission model whereby role holders can realistically earn up to £55k p/a. They also provide an exciting opportunity to grow and develop your career, as they have an ongoing commitment to their employees’ personal and professional development, with continuous product training at the heart of their offering. They envisage the role being very much desk-based at the outset but, once established, the BDM will be able to work from home for 2 days each week.
