As a Site Manager, you will oversee the smooth execution of construction projects, ensuring all works are carried out efficiently, on schedule, and to the client's specifications. You will report directly to the Contracts Manager and play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Supervise and oversee the direction of the project, ensuring client specifications and requirements are met while liaising with quantity surveyors to monitor costs.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, consultants, construction professionals, and sometimes the public.
- Monitor project margins and costs to ensure they align with objectives and evaluate project design for value engineering opportunities.
- Prepare site reports, designs, and drawings and manage lookahead programmes from the target programme.
- Coordinate with the supply chain to agree on programme dates and ensure their site works are aligned.
- Ensure all essential drawings, schedules, and information requirements are requested and received in time to avoid delays.
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain the highest levels of construction and site safety.
- Manage quality control procedures and adhere to the Quality, Environment Management Safety System (QEMS).
- Engage in forward planning to prevent problems and resolve any issues that arise.
- Negotiate contracts, secure permits and licenses, and oversee the preparation and closeout of snagging and defect lists.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- SMSTS, CSCS Managers and Professional card, and First Aid certification.
- Scaffold Awareness, Abrasive Wheel, Asbestos Awareness, Environmental Awareness, Fire Marshall, Manual Handling, PASMA, RAMS, Safe Working at Height & Temporary Works Awareness.
- Strong leadership and customer service skills.
- Ability to work well with others and knowledge of building and construction.
- Flexibility and openness to change, with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Knowledge of manufacturing production and processes.
- Proficiency in basic computer or hand-held device tasks.
