Our clientWe are delighted to be working with a market-leading global business with a significant UK operation, to recruit an Electrical Product Development Engineer. The role supports the Innovation and Development team based at their site in Tyne and Wear. They are known for their investment in their people and commitment to providing a positive and innovative work culture. The opportunityReporting to the Product Development Manager, you will: 
  • Manage New Product Development activities. 
  • Manage the contacts with Notified Bodies and Authorities with regards to the Certification of the products and secure their compliance with all relevant standards and other local regulations if any.
  • Remain up to date with all current appropriate technical and legal standards for the product line(s) and, where required, providing input into the development of these standards by serving on specific industry bodies.
  • Support the scheduling of NPD Projects in conjunction Product Directors in accordance with Product Roadmaps and available resources.
  • Collaborate with global test facility.
  • Support Product Director in generating a NPD Product Road Map.
  • Ensure that Project Leaders / Managers inform Project Owners and Key stakeholders of any incidents, deviation or risks which could affect the timely delivery of the project.
  • Lead individual projects or participate as project team member.
About youThe successful candidate will have:
  • Passion for innovation and product development.
  • Experience in working with strategic innovation and product development with internal/external partners.
  • Competence to have a holistic view of electrical/ electronic design. 
  • Ability to drive and achieve project objectives: Specification, Budget & Lead time.
  • Strong skills in communication and stakeholder management.
  • A diverse, inclusive and responsible culture.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft related software packages (Teams, Sharepoint, PowerPoint, Excel, Word etc)
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • CAD experience is desirable.
