Our client, a prominent player in the marine industry, is currently seeking a Team Lead - Electrical Engineering to join their Naval Engineering department. This permanent position is based in Gateshead, United Kingdom, with a hybrid working arrangement available. This role is pivotal in leading a dynamic team and delivering innovative and sustainable electrical engineering solutions for Naval Handling products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overall leadership and management of the electrical engineering team based in the UK and Europe.
- Ensuring the team has the appropriate people, processes, and tools to execute its projects effectively.
- Estimating and delivering electrical engineering scope for projects, including OEM engineering design, in-service support, R&D, and new sales opportunities.
- Managing project budgets, resources, and schedules for all electrical engineering scopes.
- Monitoring and analysing project performance metrics and implementing improvements where necessary.
- Collaborating with clients and internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Building and mentoring a high-performing team while fostering professional development.
- Promoting an innovation culture within the team to maintain cutting-edge naval technology.
- Developing electrical engineering solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Providing technical guidance to suppliers, internal departments, and customers, and approving factory tests and inspections.
- Managing supplier interfaces and providing technical assistance/approval to suppliers.
- Checking the technical work of others and offering guidance to colleagues, suppliers, and customers.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
- Chartered Engineer status preferred.
- Proven engineering leadership experience relevant to this role.
- Extensive experience in electrical engineering relevant to this role.
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry.
- Excellent project management and leadership abilities.
- Proven ability to design and prepare detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and cable schedules.
- Proficiency in electrical engineering software and tools relevant to the marine industry.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent people skills and both verbal and written communication abilities.
