Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? 

GSL Education are excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive secondary school in Gateshead. This role is perfect for individuals who are committed to helping students overcome challenges, achieve their goals, and grow both academically and personally.

Responsibilities:

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in delivering tailored lessons and activities that cater to individual student needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes confidence and independence.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to implement strategies for behaviour management and emotional support.
  • Help students build resilience and develop positive coping mechanisms.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to staff and parents.

Requirements:

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs (preferred).
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
