Health & Safety Officer - Job Summary

Department: Production Engineering
Reports to: PED Manager
Direct Reports: None
Purpose of Role:
Ensure a safe working environment for manufacturing staff by conducting risk and COSHH assessments, maintaining safety documentation, and promoting compliance with H&S regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk and COSHH assessments for manufacturing processes.
- Develop and maintain Safe Systems of Work and the Health & Safety Management Plan.
- Ensure compliance with HSE legislation, industry standards, and company procedures.
- Standardise H&S documentation and conduct safety audits.
- Monitor KPI performance and provide reports to senior management.
- Train and communicate H&S policies to staff.
- Support additional H&S compliance initiatives and training.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Strong knowledge of H&S legislation (HASAW, COSHH, DSEAR, COMAH).
- Experience in risk assessment, compliance, and training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn H&S management software.
Desirable:
- Manufacturing knowledge and advanced Excel skills.
- NEBOSH Certificate & IOSH membership.
