Finance Business Partner

We are seeking a Finance Business Partner to join our team, reporting directly to the Group Finance Director. This role is pivotal in partnering with the business to focus on value creation, including the preparation of Group management information and analysis, commentary on business performance, and driving best practice and continuous improvement.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Manage financial planning, forecasting, and analysis of cost activities for accurate reporting and support in business decision-making.
  • Ensure timely and accurate cost & revenue reporting for individual and consolidated financial results.
  • Own financial processes for Project systems, including WIP and stock, and contribute to policy development and customization of procedures and practices.
  • Take charge of personnel cost and headcount finance processes.
  • Support the Group Finance Director with coordination of monthly close, forecast, budget, and latest estimate activities, including interpretation of variances and advice to management.
  • Manage the financial investment process for capital expenditure, including the capex approval system.
  • Identify and support process optimisation and continuous improvement activities.
  • Lead and participate in ad-hoc business development projects.
  • Gain a detailed understanding of manufacturing business processes and information flows, conduct analyses, and provide recommendations for operational improvements.
  • Assist with maintaining and controlling financial controls within the Group, including reconciling stock and monitoring work in progress for month-end reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation and consolidation of Group budgets and monthly Group management accounts.
  • Conduct variance analysis and prepare commentary for monthly Group management accounts.
  • Assist with the year-end audit process and maintain knowledge of UK GAAP issues to ensure compliance.
  • Provide cover for other roles within the finance team as necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified Accountant or qualified by experience in a Management Accountant or Business Partnering role.
  • Expertise in management accounting, financial performance reporting, and financial control in a Group environment.
  • High level of commercial business acumen, preferably gained in a project or manufacturing background.
  • Excellent people skills to build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to present financial information to all levels within the organisation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build relations across the Group.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including the use of pivot tables and complex formulae.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, confidence, good judgement, and a hands-on approach in a dynamic environment.
  • Proactive and well-organised with strength in prioritising and responding to changing business needs.
