Management Accountant
Position Overview:Reed Finance are looking for a Management Accountant on behalf of our Medway client. We are seeking a dedicated individual to support the Finance team in management reporting and analysis. Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant and Plant Controller, you will deliver accurate and timely reporting through the maintenance of records and transactions. This role is a key member of the finance team, supporting monthly, quarterly, and year-end finance processes along with management reporting required at all levels of the business. The initial focus will be on supporting the Plant Senior Management Accountant in all aspects of reporting for the production and operations side of the business.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for accurate financial reporting and production of management accounts to strict deadlines.
- Liaise with external and internal auditors to ensure robust processes; input into the budget/forecast process and ensure site compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.
- Key accountabilities include:
- Producing accurate profit and loss and balance sheets to tight deadlines, primarily for the Plant/Operations side of the business.
- Annual budget preparation and monthly forecast processes.
- Daily reporting and target tracking.
- Managing site revenue accounting and analysis.
- Cash flow forecasting and reporting to tight deadlines.
- Producing headcount and payroll reports.
- Maintaining all ledgers and liaising with auditors for successful audit completion.
- Ensuring compliance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) guidelines.
- Controlling company bank accounts and expenditure versus budget/forecast.
- VAT and tax reporting as required.
- Creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Implementing improvements to reporting processes for dependability and reliability.
- Assisting in the completion of annual stocktakes.
- Monitoring manufacturing KPIs and over/under absorption techniques.
- Computing excess and obsolete inventory provisions.
- Collaborating with the Quality team to monitor warranty returns and claims, identifying financial risks to the business.
- Completing analysis, journal preparation, and entry of monthly reports.
- Supporting the annual standard costing process and factory margin reporting within the plant.
- Ensuring quality objectives are met in collaboration with respective teams.
- Performing any other duties as required for the efficient operation of the company.
Skills & Qualifications:Mandatory:
- High level of Excel skills.
- Experience working in a busy Finance Department/Team.
- Clear communicator with the ability to multi-task and a desire to develop in your career path.
- ACCA/CIMA qualified.
- Comfortable working with financial and non-financial personnel.
- Excellent team player with a flexible attitude.
Desirable:
- VAT/Tax experience.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of a standard costing environment.
