Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for an SEND Teaching Assistant to work in the SEND Unit at one of our partner Secondary schools on a full-time, long-term basis.

You will be providing invaluable support to individual students who have additional needs, primarily surrounding Speech, Language, and Communication Needs. Your support will be vital in ensuring pupils at the school have the tools to work towards their GCSE or Level 2 qualifications.

Based in Medway, the school is a vibrant and inclusive environment that focuses on creating a caring, supportive, and aspirational learning environment for all.

You will be required to learn, understand, and follow the personalised provisions set out for each pupil in their Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), as well as ensuring continued development across a range of areas including self-regulation, Literacy & Numeracy, Gross & Fine Motor skills, and Social & Communication skills.

Salary will be between £83.33 and £90 per day and the role is full time.

To be considered for this role, applicants should have:

  • The passion and drive for supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs. For applicants with the relevant life or educational background but no formal school-based experience, Tradewind runs a bespoke, in-person TA School to prepare you for the life of a TA
  • Strong communication skills
  • Demonstrable patience and reasoning skills
  • A positive, engaging, and proactive approach
  • Have or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service. Tradewind can put a DBS in place for you, which we will refund in full following a period of 20 days worked in our placements
  • Valid Proof of Right to Work in the UK
