Accountant

Glasgow hybrid 2-3 days per week in office

Duration - 6 months

This position will play a key role in the Compensation Accounting team and will report directly to the Compensation Accounting Manager. This role involves developing a full understanding of the compensation accounting lines and necessary bookings, liaising with Finance Business Partners and our supporting Accounting Service Management team and ensuring monthly management accounts are produced accurately and to tight timeframes

Key Responsibilities:

  • Being responsible for monthly accounting for compensation costs, including complex compensation arrangements.
  • Demonstrate keen attention to detail and take ownership of tasks.
  • To assist with the production of accurate management accounts, and relevant commentary, adhering to tight reporting deadlines.
  • Perform monthly and year-to-date variance analysis to budget and prior year on P&L.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Drive forward changes and process improvement to ensure efficiency and develop appropriate and value add reporting to senior stakeholders.
  • Production of ad hoc reporting to support to the business and assisting to establish key reporting outputs for senior stakeholders.
  • Assistance and support in response to external and internal audit requests.
  • Build and manage relationships within the wider General Accounting team, and across other functional teams.
  • Ensure SOX requirements are fully met.
  • Comply with Professional Standards Manual in accordance with statutory requirements for role with specific attention, but not limited to Whistle Blowing, Treating Customers Fairly.
  • Carry out duties following internal policies and procedures in accordance with applicable laws, rules, regulation, good governance and shared values, in particular, putting clients at the heart of our business.
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure the part of the business for which you are accountable for demonstrably complies with applicable laws, rules, regulation, good governance and shared values, in particular, putting clients at the heart of our business. If shortcomings are identified take responsibility for remedial action planning, and action in conjunction with the relevant experts within the firm.

Skills Required:

Technical Knowledge (preferable but not necessary)

  • US GAAP experience
  • Professional services background
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Project management experience/experience of implementing new processes and/or controls
