Your new company

A well-known public sector organisation is currently looking for an assistant financial accountant to cover a 9-month contract. This contract is under review, so there is a possibility for extension. The role will be offered on a hybrid basis with the offices being based in Glasgow City Centre. The working week will be Monday to Friday, covering 35 hours.

Your new role

Reporting to the senior accountant of the sub-specialism you operate in, your duties will include:

  • Producing accurate and timely financial returns for various reporting needs.
  • Preparing and posting journal entries to the Ledger.
  • Assisting in periodic reporting by preparing ledger analysis.
  • Performing reconciliations and investigating variances.
  • Coordinating statutory and group year-end processes.
  • Engaging with External Auditors and providing necessary information.
  • Preparing analysis for P11Ds and PSA, liaising with third parties.
  • Reviewing un-capitalised items for the asset register.
  • Preparing daily banking and cash flow data for analysis.
  • Supporting budget and forecasting processes with ledger analysis.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role you must be an accountant who has strong technical ability (IFRS, VAT, Payroll, etc.). You must also have strong communication skills with similar experience in a previous role. You will also be IT literate and highly proficient in all Microsoft packages.
