Applications Engineer (Power Systems Protection)

£65,000 - £75,000 + Commission & OTE + Hybrid / Remote + Bespoke Development + Potential to Progress

Certain Advantage is hiring for an Applications Engineer, Product Manager, Technical Support Engineer or similar, based in the UK.

This role is on a permanent basis and can be either hybrid, office based or remote depending on the candidate's location.

The Company

We're working with a remarkable business which provides advanced monitoring and control systems based on ground-breaking, patented technologies, with the ability to drastically reduce downtime and the operational cost of clean power networks through tailored and scalable solutions.

Their unique power protection solutions are trusted in major renewable energy projects and critical power systems worldwide, delivering proven cost savings, enhanced reliability and seamless renewable integration.

The Role:

This role would suit someone with a background in protection and control engineering, looking to make an impact in a role which operates across engineering, sales and customer services.

You'll be a key member of the Applications Engineering team, combining your technical expertise and commercial acumen to add value to client relationships, provide technical support on the company's unique technology, and act as a trusted power system protection applications consultant.

Day to day you will:

  • Deliver pre-sales technical support for the application of the company's technology, both in person and remote, grounded in established engineering principles, practices, and standards within the power industry
  • Enhance customer relationships by engaging in technical discussions and negotiations, while offering commercially viable solutions
  • Deliver compelling proposals, with input from engineering, and operations teams
  • Maintain a strong understanding of power system instrumentation and technologies, ensuring the company's solutions align effectively with customer needs
  • Enhance the company's credibility in power system protection through professional interactions with customers and stakeholders, utilising media - proposals, bids, presentations, case studies, conference papers, and meetings
The Individual

I'm looking for someone who can show:

  • Experience in the substation, T&D, or power generation sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing or implementing protection solutions for medium to high voltage levels
  • Working knowledge of instrument transformers, SCADA communication systems, and both factory and site testing
  • Experience in a client-facing, technical role
  • A degree in Electrical, Power engineering or related field
