We are looking for a talented Senior Underwriter to join our dynamic team and play a crucial role in our Mortgage Operations function. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a keen eye for detail, this opportunity is for you!Role Title: Senior UnderwriterSalary: £41,000Location: UK RemoteContract Type: 6 months initially with view for extension Working Hours: Full Time (35 hours per week) - Monday to FridayStart date: 17th or 25th February 2025Our Team: Our Senior Underwriting team is at the heart of our Mortgage Operations. We assess high-risk mortgage enquiries and guide customers from Decision in Principle to Mortgage offer. We pride ourselves on putting customers first, making responsible lending decisions, and supporting the wider business with our expertise.What You'll Be Doing:* High-Value Lending Decisions: Make lending decisions up to £1.5m, ensuring compliance with risk appetite, policy requirements, and regulatory standards.* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all decisions comply with MCOB, Responsible Lending, Consumer Duty, and other relevant regulations.* Customer Communication: Clearly explain lending decisions to customers and provide exceptional service.* Performance Management: Proactively manage your performance, meet targets, and deliver high-quality lending decisions.We Need You to Have:* Experience: Minimum of two years of mortgage underwriting experience with an active lending mandate of at least £500,000.* Regulatory Knowledge: Detailed understanding of mortgage regulations, including MCOB, FCA vulnerable customer guidance, and PRA Portfolio Landlord lending standards.* Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and numerical skills to make informed lending decisions.* Communication Skills: Excellent communicator, confident in engaging with customers and stakeholders.* Empathy and Flexibility: Ability to make empathetic and flexible underwriting decisions, aiming for the best outcomes for both customers and the bank.* Relationship-Building: Strong relationship-building skills to foster internal and external connections.* Service Ethos: Enthusiasm and drive to deliver outstanding service and support the mortgage strategy.What We Offer:* A supportive and innovative work environment.* Opportunities for professional growth and development.* The chance to be part of a team that values responsible lending and customer-centricity.Ready to take your career to the next level?
