Is there a role to rival 'miscellaneous corporate broking’ in terms of both complexity and variety in the regional broking market? "Our client could be a Local Authority with tens of millions of pounds worth of art hanging on the walls of the town hall, a University with a patent on cutting-edge technology, a fire service needing Airside Liability to respond to aviation disasters, or a police authority with safe houses and covert motor fleets that are so secret that their insurers can’t know even the most basic details", so says the manager of this global broker’s Public Sector & Education Practice when making a compelling argument to the contrary!
Having enjoyed year on year double-digit growth for a decade, this firm is clearly on an impressive growth trajectory. Indeed, this role has come about due to the acquisition of quality accounts.
Here, you will work with some of the most talented insurance professionals in the market, dealing with some truly fascinating clients - including some of biggest police authorities and fire services in the UK, as well as many of the country’s preeminent University Procurement Groups. Your clients will be demanding, yet sophisticated, risk-savvy insurance buyers, who are often committed to LTAs.
You will be responsible for building a detailed understanding of your clients’ organisations and their exposures to risk. Where gaps in cover exist, you will help create innovative solutions to mitigate these. You will also be tasked with negotiating with insurers to obtain the most comprehensive cover at competitive premiums.
To ensure you establish a deep understanding of the nuances of this sector, you will be encouraged to visit your clients’ various premises alongside Account Directors, and attend various industry events.
It is by no means essential that you have prior exposure to either corporate insurance, public sector or education risks, although clearly this experience would add weight to your application. It is essential that you have a good all-round knowledge of common commercial covers such as Property, Liability, Fleet and Financial Lines. You must also be well-organised with excellent task-management skills, and you will pride yourself on your attention to detail. Just as importantly, you’ll be highly professional in your demeanour, with the ability to build rapport with senior personnel from very well-known organisations.
Our client operates a hybrid-working arrangement, allowing you to work from home 3 days a week. However, you will be able to work from their state-of-the-art office (within an easy walk of both Manchester Victoria and Salford Central stations), as much as you like. For outstanding candidates with exposure to relevant risks, there is scope to be fully home-based, requiring you to only check into the office once a month.
When describing opportunities for progression, the hiring manager says, "here, you are the CEO of your own career. Whether you want to remain as an Account Handler, specialise in a niche, become a manager, or develop into an Account Executive, we’ll give you all the help and support you need to realise your ambitions". We are open to Account Handlers with just a few years’ commercial experience, through to highly seasoned Corporate Account Handlers. You will receive a generous basic salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including support towards professional qualifications under the Chartered Insurance Institute.Aston Charles - a personalised service from industry expertsGeneral Insurance and Financial Services RecruitmentFor more jobs like this, or for more information on how we may be able to help you in your search for a new job, please visit our website
