First People Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced General Foreman with a solid background in managing projects for Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN). This role is set within a dynamic project and maintenance environment, where you will oversee various multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects.
As General Foreman, you will manage the delivery of civil works in a substation environment, ensuring all projects meet safety standards, timelines, and quality expectations. You will lead teams involved in the installation, inspection, and maintenance of infrastructure, including substations, overhead lines, and underground cabling on behalf of Scottish Power & Energy Networks. Your role will require strong leadership, technical knowledge, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage workforce dynamics and resolve on-site challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all employees and others under your control, adhering to the Supervisors Health and Safety Responsibility Statement.
- Implement all company and client Health & Safety and Environmental initiatives effectively.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and best practices.
- Lead, supervise, utilise, and monitor both direct and subcontract labour effectively.
- Deliver works within the specified programme and budget, ensuring compliance with all applicable legislation:
- Monitor work progress continuously to meet contract objectives.
- Identify, agree, implement, and manage changes to the scope of works effectively.
- Maintain robust records (diaries, allocation sheets, plant details, etc.).
- Identify and implement training needs for directly employed operatives under your control.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Demonstrated experience as a General Foreman in a power or civil engineering project environment.
- Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- Strong leadership, technical acumen, and problem-solving skills to manage workforce dynamics effectively.
- SPEN Authorisations in accordance with the 5th Edition Safety Rules.
- Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card.
